Milk Pie, a classic Pennsylvania Dutch pastry with a rich custard like filling and a flaky, buttery crust. This delectable treat is often sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar, adding a delightful touch of sweetness to the creamy custard. It’s a beloved dessert that has gained popularity worldwide for its irresistible combination of textures and flavors. Whether enjoyed with a cup of coffee or as a standalone indulgence, Old Fashion Milk Pie is a timeless delight for pastry enthusiasts everywhere.

First make your Never Fail pie crust (or use a premade 9″ crust)
3 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 egg, beaten
1/3 cup cold water
1 tbs. vinegar
Mix the flour and salt. Cut in the shortening. Combine remaining ingredients and stir into shortening mixture. Let stand a few minutes. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to desired thickness. (This makes 3-4 pie shells)

The Filling

1 tablespoon flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/3 cups milk
1/2 tablespoon butter

Combine flour, sugar and cinnamon together, and put in bottom of pie shell. Put in one pat of butter, then milk. Bake at 350 degrees until crust is brown, approximately 45-55 minutes.

This could not be easier to make!

I love to cook and travel. There is nothing like experiencing new cultures and of course the food. I am really happy doing charcuterie trays, this has been my new obsession for the last two years. So much creativity and fun goes into each board.

I have no formal training in nutrition or in cooking, however, I love to do it and my family reaps the benefits.

Enjoy the blog, I would love to hear from you!
