So before thanksgiving while having Sunday dinner with the family, we happened on the conversation of eggnog. Turns out the kids love eggnog; even requesting it for Thanksgiving. Rather than buy it at the store I decided to try my hand at making it.  I am really glad I did although it takes two days to make, it was well worth it!

4 cups half and half

1 cup white sugar

11 egg yolks

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups of heavy cream

1 ¼ cup spiced rum

1 pint vanilla ice cream

In a sauce pan over medium heat, stir together the half and half and sugar. Whisk in the egg yolks and cook until a light custard forms; DO NOT BOIL! Remove from heat and cool, place in the refrigerator overnight.

Into the chilled mixture stir in the vanilla, cream, rum and ice cream. Serve with a little nutmeg on top.  Very creamy and delicious!

Bon appétit

I love to cook and travel. There is nothing like experiencing new cultures and of course the food. I am really happy doing charcuterie trays, this has been my new obsession for the last two years. So much creativity and fun goes into each board.

I have no formal training in nutrition or in cooking, however, I love to do it and my family reaps the benefits.

Enjoy the blog, I would love to hear from you!
