Sweet n Salty Poppers

IMG_9873

I made these the other night; our daughter was hesitant about them because of the dates (really???) I figured whatever, we had people coming in from out of town and I wanted to give them something to munch on before dinner was served.  This was a hit.  Stephan could not stop eating them and lo and behold, MacKenzie was devouring them as well!  I have seen these now that I made them on a couple different web sites. I am not sure if they are dissimilar, but I assume most are the same.

I made mine with pitted dates cut in half

Brie cheese (room temperature)

Bacon (each strip cut in thirds)

cracked pepper

Fill the date with brie, wrap in bacon and bake at 325 for 20 minutes.  Once you remove them sprinkle with a bit of fresh cracked pepper mmmmm It really was that easy.  If they are not crisp throw them back in for a little more time.  Salty, creamy and sweet, it is a perfect trifecta!
