Like its close relative fondue, raclette is meant for sharing, so it’s an ideal menu item for casual dining. raclette  

Dinners in our house are enjoyed by both our family and our friends, it is a winter tradition that we have and enjoy very much.  I love bringing my husbands heritage and traditions into our home!

Raclette basically consists of , raclette cheese, fingerling potatoes, mushroom and onion sautéed mixture, and several thin sliced meats such as prosciutto, salami, dried ham and some petite French breads piping hot. You take the cheese and place it in the raclette pan adding the sauteed mixture to it and placing it in the raclette heater. While you are waiting for it to melt you take either the bread or potato breaking them open, placing some meat on them and when the cheese is all bubbly and melted you pour it all over your item of choice.

This is one of my favorite meals to enjoy with my Husband; we can have the benefit of our dinner in the living area while watching a great movie, with a fire blazing, and lastly a great bottle of wine!

We are preparing for a raclette this weekend and I have to go shopping for the cheese and was just contemplating the meal ahead.  Will post pics when we have the meal. =)
